New pedestrian bridge for downtown New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE - A new pedestrian bridge will soon rise over Huguenot Street, providing a new way for shoppers in Trump Plaza to reach cars in the New Roc City garage.

But the 123-foot enclosed walkway is also expected to become a visual gateway to New Rochelle's downtown from the east.

The pre-fabricated bridge will be delivered to the construction site in two weeks, Joseph Apicella, senior vice president with developer Louis Cappelli, told the New Rochelle City Council.

Cappelli has also agreed to pay for a large work of art to ornament the bridge, Apicella said.
