| Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband says he might be father of Smith's baby
LOS ANGELES The husband of actress Zsa Zsa Gabor says he had a decade-long affair with Anna Nicole Smith and may be her infant daughter's father. The claim by Prince Frederic von Anhalt comes amid a paternity suit over Smith's 5-month-old daughter, Dannielynn. The birth certificate lists Dannielynn's father as attorney Howard K. Stern, but former Smith boyfriend Larry Birkhead is waging a legal challenge, saying he is the father. Von Anhalt says he will file a lawsuit if Dannielynn is turned over to Stern or Birkhead. Diverse crowd joins in march
At 3 p.m. Sunday, about 150 people marched to the beat of the Wilson Middle School Drum Line down High Street to the Old Courthouse from First United Church of Christ at 30 N. Pitt Street. To the rear, about 10 young women from the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of Carlisle and nearly 20 male basketball players in warm-up suits from Carlisle High School were "just helping out, showing support for the community," team member Adolph Comer said. At the front of the line were several police escort vehicles and most of the speakers. Mayor Kirk Wilson noted not only that the number of march participants was increasing each year, but that the audience itself was "more diverse than it used to be." In saying this he pointed to the groups of children and adults, clergy and athletes that were passing by.
Local woman’s creativity gets cooking in kitchen
The next move she wanted to make was in the kitchen. She wanted to conquer cooking; something, at the time, she knew nothing about."Now you have to understood something," said Zeis, "I couldn't boil water. The only thing I ever did in the kitchen was get my plate, eat, and put my plate back up."Zeis was paired with Carla Murphy, a name she will not soon forget. Murphy was a chef at the restaurant where Zeis worked and served as her mentor. Instruction in the kitchen started with a roux.Zeis said, "For people who don't cook, a roux is the hardest thing in the world to make. It's the base of gumbo and jumbalaya and it's hard. Three times I burned it, but on the fourth time I got it." .
Local horseman Cole Norman involved in fatal wreck
Cole Norman, the nine-time defending champion trainer at Louisiana Downs was involved in a collision that led to the death of an 86-year-old Hot Springs, Ark., woman and her dog Monday.
A Ford Explorer driven by Virginia M. Heath was hit head-on by Norman's 2007 Cadillac Escalade. According to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Norman was headed north on Arkansas 7, less than a mile south of Hot Springs.
