| Stefanis Baby Gets His Own Tourbus
GWEN STEFANI's baby son KINGSTON has landed his own tourbus, thanks to US TV chat show host ELLEN DEGENERES. Ellen presented the singer with a mini-tourbus, complete with a baby bed and playthings, when Stefani was a guest on her show last week (09FEB07) to promote her upcoming US tour. The HOLLABACK GIRL singer was thrilled with the rocking gift, but wasn't sure she'd actually be able to find space for the mini-bus. She giggled, "That is ridiculous... Where am I gonna put this?"

Is Carwash Negligent In Accident?
TAMPA, Fla. -- Opening arguments began yesterday in the case of an accident at a carwash in which a woman pushing her baby in a stroller is run down by an SUV. In this silent, grainy surveillance video that was released on Monday, Brenda Lee Brown, 43, pushes her son's stroller across a carwash parking lot. A black Isuzu Rodeo rolls, then speeds in her direction. She thrusts the stroller out of harm's way before the vehicle crashes into her. The sport utility vehicle ends up in the street, cars swerving to avoid it. Brown lays crumpled on the ground, unmoving. Two days later, Mother's Day 2005, she dies of her injuries. In the trial this week, a jury will decide whether the tragedy was a freak accident or the result of negligence by Town N Country Car Wash.Steve Yerrid, who filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the carwashs corporate owner on behalf of Browns widower and young son, said the case is about more than a grieving family.

The latest on Basant is a proposal that motorcyclists and cyclists be banned from venturing out on the festive day. This proposal, if accepted, will obviously mean a citywide shutdown on Basant.
The greatest ideas are the simplest ones. Why stop at Basant? Why not also permanently ban pedestrians from the streets to keep motorists from running them over? And since motorcyclists and cyclists are themselves vulnerable to being hit by bigger vehicles, lets ban them all and leave a clear field for trucks and buses.

I spent this past Friday night babysitting for my big brother. While I love my two-month-old nephew and two-year-old niece to death, that night was pretty much a trial-by-fire ordeal for me. I am not a "baby person" — nor have I ever been. I played with stuffed animals and Barbies, never baby dolls and strollers. As a child, I dreamed of growing up and owning a dog — my mom has a fear of dogs, so I’ve never owned one — not having a baby of my own. Yet, as I adamantly tell family and friends I have no desire to have children, they give me a knowing smile and say, "You will." As if one day I will wake up and think, "Gee, I guess it’s time to have a baby." We live in a society that has a very structured idea about what course your life should take. You go to school, you get married, you have kids.
