CIVIL SERVICE STROLLERS meet HERIOT-WATT UNIVERSITY in what is most definitely a "six-pointer" for both sides. They occupy the second and third bottom spots on nine points each although the students have three games in hand over the Strollers. Daryl Devlin and Gavin McDougall will be looking for goals for the home side while Luke Cassidy and Lee Manderson are in form for Heriot-Watt. .
Study Shows Newborn Brain Hemorrhage Common Find
An unexpected finding by scientists studying baby brain development. The first study to use high definition MRI to study newborn brains suggests a once troubling finding is probably just a common side effect of delivery. "Blood collections in most of the cases they were really tiny." At the University of North Carolina - scientists studying baby brain development using a high powered MRI to analyze newborn brains came across a finding that wasn't part of their study. "A lot of the babies had these little bleeds..little hemorrhages inside their heads." 17 of the 88 infants in the study had the tiny bleeds - all were delivered vaginally - and were given a clean bill of health. "25 percent of babies born had intracranial hemorrhages or these bleeds in and around the brain after they were born." Small tears believed to be caused by the shifting of the skull during delivery.

Were You Offended?
Mike Fancher's weekly column in yesterday's Seattle Times covered the outrage of some locals over a front page story discussing less-than-warmly dressed baristas at a smattering of local coffee stands. Judging from Fancher's column, a not insignificant chunk of the Times' readership was perturbed by the coverage (or lack thereof). Personally, I don't get it. The online pictures that accompanied the print story are not gratuitous (the 1st picture was on the front page, the 2nd on the inside of the main section). One could see as much flesh, if not more, from photos of the recently successful UW women's volleyball team in modern uniforms or from fashion shots of the current parade of Hollywood award shows. You can even see more from the lingerie models that regularly grace the inside pages of the Times' main section.
In this Jazzercize class, a life story is a bonus
Spend an hour in Katie Gordon's Jazzercise class and you'll be so distracted by her barrage of banter that you'll forget your quads are burning. The 48-year-old with perfectly manicured nails and abs of steel climbs onto a carpeted platform at the Austin Recreation Center and cranks up the music. "How's your day been so far?" she calls out to the 40 or so students, mostly women, gathered in the gym at lunchtime on a recent Friday. .
