| Evenflo sold to Weston Presidio affiliate
VANDALIA, Ohio — Harvest Partners, a New York-based equity investment firm that owns Evenflo Co., has sold the infant and juvenile products manufacturer to another firm, Harvest Partners announced Thursday. Evenflo, headquartered in this Dayton suburb, was sold to an affiliate of private equity firm Weston Presidio, the companies said. Evenflo's products include car seats, strollers, safety gates and nursing products. The sale, including equity and debt, totaled about $260 million, according to a news release. Harvest Partners, which specializes in management buyouts and growth financing of middle-market companies, acquired Evenflo in August 2004 and recruited Chief Executive Robert Matteucci to join the company in 2005. "We believe that Evenflo is much better positioned today and it should continue to win in the marketplace," Richard Moreau, Harvest Partners vice president, said in a statement.
Finding jurors might be hurdle in Armstrong baby-theft trial
It will be difficult to find jurors for the upcoming trial of Peggy Jo Connor, accused of taking a pregnant neighbor to a remote area and trying to steal her unborn child, said a past president of the Armstrong County Bar Association. "The question isn't whether or not the potential jurors have heard about the case," said Chuck Pascal, an Armstrong County lawyer. "It's a question of whether or not they've formed an opinion." "I think it will be difficult to find jurors who haven't formed some sort of opinion," he said. Jury selection is scheduled to begin Monday in the case of Conner, of Manor, Armstrong County, accused of taking neighbor Valerie Oskin to a wooded area in Wayne and attempting to take her unborn child on Oct. 12, 2005. Oskin delivered a healthy baby boy.

Parents, let's fight to preserve the Family Medical Leave Act
After my son was born, I took four weeks off from work to help take care of him. I feared dirty diapers, worried excessively when he didn't nap and banged on the baby monitor to make sure it worked when he slept too quietly. Despite my jittery parenting beginnings, it turned out to be the most rewarding month of my life. More importantly, my son had a healthier and happier start in life because of it. Not to mention that it was much easier for my wife to return to work after she took seven months off. And when I returned, I had not only renewed appreciation for my job and bosses, but found myself taking on extra assignments and longer hours to show it. It was worth the extra work, because every working parent should have the right to bond with a child when it counts most, when they need help with everything from feeding to learning how to grasp a pacifier.
