From Bellini cribs and Graco strollers to baby clothes from Gymboree, BabyGap and Carter's, this new Lindenhurst store is bursting with bargains on all things for kids and babies. During a recent visit, a gorgeous new tan and cream bassinette from Kolcraft was on sale for $35 (retails for $79). New or almost-new cribs from Pali were $150 (retail, $400 and up). There are racks and racks of clothing for babies, toddlers and juniors - prices range from 33 cents for a newborn Carter's onesie to about $15 for infant snowsuits and winter jackets. Tommy Hilfiger, Nannette, Circo and Nike are among other brands spotted. Many of the items are new, with tags. Owner Sandra Satzinger says that's because she's buying liquidation or overstock inventory right off retail shelves.

Even the pigeons in Paris are in pairs," sighed my wife as we strolled from the Louvre through the Jardin des Tuileries on our way to the restaurant on the Champs Elysees and our celebration dinner. And they were. Like the majestic swans on the ponds, the young lovers on the benches, the elderly couples walking arm in arm, every bird, everybody in Paris seemed to be in love. What better place than this, our favourite city in the world, to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary, we told ourselves. Everyone in this city of love and lovers - backpackers, office workers, Rollerbladers, tourists, youngsters, geriatrics, beret-wearing locals - seems to be hand in hand, arm in arm, gazing, adoring, kissing, hugging, or touching. All are alive with the vibrancy and the beauty and the delight that is Paris.
YEAH, BABY, HE'S GOT IT
Most people will take their first looks at the story. After all, you are committing 11/2 to two hours to this. Do you care how it turns out? After that, maybe you're big on the director. Say, Martin Scorsese, and 8 bucks just falls out of your pocket. Then, there are attractions such a familiar novel, dazzling visual effects or a craving for brain candy -- Will Ferrell's career is built on that craving. But the most satisfying reason to see a movie may be a great performance. That is absolutely the top reason for taking in Venus, Peter O'Toole's "comeback" at age 74. God knows Forest Whitaker is a deserving front-runner for the best-actor Oscar this year. And as a rule, we don't like de facto lifetime achievement awards, such as Al Pacino's Scent of a Woman prize in 1992.
Ladies night: Dixie Chicks, Mary J. Blige hit the right notes on Grammy night
Call it the night the Dixie Chicks got the last laugh. The 49th annual Grammy Awards last night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles was redemption for Dixie Chicks singer Natalie Maines, who outraged a big chunk of her country fan base when, on the eve of the Iraq War, she told a London audience, "Just so you know, we're ashamed the president is from Texas." The resulting backlash against the Chicks -- which included CD burnings, a boycott on some country stations and a scolding from Toby Keith -- sparked the reaction song "Not Ready to Make Nice," which now can be referred to as Record of the Year and Song of the Year. "I think people are using their freedom of speech with these awards tonight," Maines said. The Dixie Chicks also won Album of the Year and Country Album for "Taking the Long Way," as well as Country Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocal.
Mothers-to-be finding support through PMI
A Christian desire to help educate pregnant women and give them spiritual guidance has grown tremendously over the past 20 years.Pregnancy Ministries, now known as PMI Pregnancy Resource Center, was started by Ken and Laurie Shannon of Chambersburg in the mid-1980s. It began with discussions in the couple's home and has developed into four centers, which are partnered with a national organization called Care Net. Care Net is involved with more than 1,000 pregnancy centers nationwide.“My husband and I, along with a group of Christians from our church, wanted to help women," Laurie Shannon recalled. “We felt it was our conviction as Christians to put our money where our mouths were and tell our children that abortion is wrong." .
